Give it a name, set a location and style if needed

Confirm if you want to add all current expenses to that account

If you don't need a budget, and just want to group expenses in a single account, follow this:
Go to Settings>Accounts
Tap New account on the bottom-left corner
Give it a name, set style, then tap Add
Confirm if you want to add all current expenses to that account
Set favorite accounts
If you add most of your expenses to a single account, like a primary credit card or budget, Gem can automatically choose this account for you whenever you create new expenses.
Go to Settings >Recording
Under Expenses, tap Account
Choose an account
Tip
Traveling? Create a new budget (or account) for it, like "NYC 2024", and set it as your favorite account. Just don't forget to change it when your trips ends 🥸
You can also set favorite income category, just look for Income
Transfers
By default, you can transfer between accounts found in Settings >Accounts. However, if you use multiple organization groups, like "Categories", "Accounts" and "Payment methods", you can tell Gem which group you want to use for transfers:
Go to Settings>Recording
Scroll down and tap Folders & more
Tap Preferred accounts
Choose the group
Notice
You can't edit or set transfers to repeat. Sorry about it, for now please delete and re-create them
View your balance
Gem can show your total balance across all accounts, or just the balance of a specific account. The balance is calculated by subtracting your expenses from your income since you started using Gem.
Go to Tracking, tap on the top-right corner
Tap More, then Balance
Choose Total balance or a specific account
You can exclude accounts from your balance by:
Go to Tracking, and tap the balance card
Tap Edit on the top-right corner
Enable Filter accounts
Tap Accounts and choose only the accounts you like
You can also view your monthly balance by:
Go to Tracking, and tap the balance card
Tap Edit on the top-right corner
Next to Period, tap All time and choose Monthly
Tap Update
Tip
Set or update your balance by tapping on the balance card in Tracking, and then "Set balance"
Set savings goals
Gem can help you save money towards a goal, like purchasing a car or paying your loans.
Go to Tracking, tap on the top-right corner
Choose New savings goal
Give it a name, like "New iPhone"
Enter the amount you want to save in Goal
Set your style, then tap Add
You can log savings by:
Go to Tracking, and tap the savings card
Tap on the bottom
Enter the details and hit Add
You can update your savings goal by:
Go to Tracking, and tap the savings card
Tap the gray GOAL box next to "Saved"
Enter the new goal, then tap
Track your income
You can set and track your salary and income in Gem.
Go to Settings>Income
Tap New on the bottom-left corner
Enter your salary amount
Tap Show more to edit the note or schedule
If you receive your salary twice a month, or any other schedule: Tap repeat this monthly and choose a new schedule
Tap Add
After setting your income, you can view your recent paychecks under "History" and upcoming paychecks under "Next paycheck".
Tip
You can't edit future paychecks. If needed, you can edit the most recent paycheck under History and it'll apply to the next paycheck
Gem doesn't have yet a dedicated income view, but for now you can view using the "Monthly savings" view:
Go to Tracking, tap on the top-right corner
Tap More
Choose Monthly savings
Choose All accounts to view income across all your accounts, or a specific account
In Tracking, under Savings goal, tap the newly added card
Check your Income trends card
Advanced account options
When editing accounts, you can set the following:
Location. Move accounts by choosing a new placement.

Repeat expenses was removed in version 3.7 (Nov 2024) due to a bug. If you still see it, please avoid using it as it might modify existing expenses
