Set custom starting day

By default, Gem calculates your expenses from the 1st of the month. You can change that to match your billing or due date.

  1. Go to Journal
  2. Tap the button on the top
  3. Tap More options
  4. Tap on Month start day, then choose the date

Navigate your journal

You can tap the calendar button on the top of your Journal to view expenses of a given month.

Tip

Swipe left or right on your expenses list for faster navigation :)

Summary widget

The Journal view also has a Summary widget at the bottom so you can track spending right there. It reflects the same budgets as in Summary, and you can choose where it appears or hide it completely.

Move widget to the top

  1. Go to Journal
  2. Tap the button on the top
  3. Tap More options
  4. Next to Widget placement, choose Bottom

Hide widget

  1. Go to Journal
  2. Tap the button on the top
  3. Tap More options
  4. Turn off Show summary widget

Future expenses

If you can't see future expenses in your Journal, please update your app to 3.8

Sorting

By default, Gem shows your oldest entries first. You can change it to show your recent entries first.

  1. Go to Journal
  2. Tap the button on the top
  3. Choose Show newest first

Group recurring payments

If you prefer having your bills appear on a separate list, Gem can display them in a dedicated group on the top of your history (or bottom, according to your sorting).

  1. Go to Journal
  2. Tap the button on the top
  3. Tap More options
  4. Enable Group repeaeting expense
