For expenses that happen regularly—like subscriptions, rent, or bills—you can set up a repeating entry so it’s tracked automatically each cycle.
When creating an expense, enter the amount and category
Tap Show more>repeat this
Choose when this expense should repeat
Tip
Gem creates repeating expenses whenever you open the app. You can force it by switching months in Journal screen
Edit repeating expenses
Need to change the amount, due date, or frequency? You can edit repeating expenses to keep them accurate.
Notice
You can't edit a future expense (which hasn't repeated yet). However changing the most recently repeated expense will apply to the next one once it's created.
Go to Settings >Repeating payments
Under Recently paid, tap the expense
Make the changes you want
Tap Update
Stop repeating expenses
You can stop an expense from repeating.
Go to Settings >Repeating payments
Under Recently paid, tap the expense
Tap Edit>repeat this
Choose Never, then tap Update
Trends & due payments
Repeating items show you long-term patterns, so you can see how much of your monthly spending goes to fixed costs.
Go to Settings >Repeating payments
Tap Report on the bottom-right corner
You'll see
Total paid: Total sum of expenses already paid this month
Paid and due: Breakdown of paid expenses and upcoming ones (due)
Upcoming payments
Keep track of which repeating items you’ve already paid and which are still due. Widgets make this even easier by showing upcoming payments at a glance.
Future expenses
If you can't see future expenses in your Journal, please update your app to 3.8
